Grass Grand Prix 2018 - Volleyball game

Venue: Botanic Park, Botanic Rd/Edge Lane corner, Kensington, Liverpool, L7 5PZ

Time: 4pm

Entry is open to all volleyball players out there. You don’t need to register, just turn up on the day and play.

Format: 4-a-side men’s/mixed competition

Round-robin tournament (all teams play each other)

Teams: Teams will be created on the day from all the available players who turn up and can be of mixed gender. Participants can organise their own teams prior to the event taking place if they wish Players will need to pick a name for their team (1 word)

Rules: Short games: 2 sets to 15 (no 2 points difference required i.e. finish at 15:14) Back court player rule applies (server can’t block or hit front court) All other rules as in FIVB general rules

Points: Participants will accumulate points individually 3 points for each game won, 1 point for a draw, Additionally, teams will award a point to 1 player from the opposite team after each game (MVP)

Prizes: Top scoring players will be awarded medals plus additional prizes (TBC) During the last event on 27 August (Bank Holiday Monday) there will also be several prizes drawn between games. Participants must take part in at least 4 out of 6 events to be eligible for medals or the prize draw. Organising committee: North West NVL team & Liverpool VC.

Grand Prix will consist a total of 6 events (weather permitting):

24 June at 4pm

8 July at 4pm

22 July at 4pm

5 August at 4pm

19 August at 4pm

2nd September 4pm (FINAL)

Entry fee: £2 per player

*The intention of the competition is to raise money to support our volleyball teams playing in MVL and NVL.
